About the Opportunity 

We're looking for a passionate and innovative Sustainability Specialist to coordinate our environmental and social sustainability initiatives. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing Summerland's Sustainability and B Corp programs, while building awareness and engagement across the organisation and community. 

You will be a change agent for ESG - driving transformation by embedding Environmental, Social & Governance principles into our operations, culture, and strategy. You'll champion initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint, promote social equity, and ensure transparent governance, helping Summerland Bank lead by example in the financial services sector. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the B Corp certification process and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Coordinate initiatives to strengthen Summerland's Sustainability Program. 
  • Represent Summerland at external forums to promote sustainability efforts.
  • Educate staff on ESG measures and their role in our sustainability journey. 
  • Collaborate across departments to embed sustainability into strategy, operations and culture. 
  • Establish measurable targets aligned with global frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 
  • You will build relationships with customers and colleagues confidently. 
  • You are receptive to new ideas, pursue opportunities, and aim to provide straightforward sustainable solutions. 
  • You show commitment to environmental and social sustainability and understand the importance businesses have in developing a better world.

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in Sustainability and ESG leadership, project management and change management.
  • The ability to collaborate and communicate to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Qualifications in sustainability or in a related field are highly desirable.
  • Skills in analytical, critical thinking, decision making agility, presentation and negotiation.
